DC Shopian Reviews Arrangements for Republic Day–2026, Shab-i-Miraj
Calls for Flawless, Coordinated Execution
Shopian, January, 13: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today presided over a comprehensive review meeting here at Mini Secretariat to assess and finalize arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 2026 and the observance of Shab-i-Miraj (SAW) across the district.
DC undertook a detailed sector-wise review of preparedness and issued clear directions to all line departments to ensure smooth, peaceful and dignified conduct of both occasions. Emphasis was laid on security and traffic regulation, sanitation and cleanliness, uninterrupted power and water supply, health and medical preparedness, fire and emergency services, venue management, public address systems and contingency planning.
DC stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination, punctual execution of assigned responsibilities and strict adherence to established protocols. Officers were directed to maintain heightened alertness, ensure public convenience and uphold communal harmony during the events.
Special instructions were issued for proper crowd management, cleanliness drives at public places, readiness of medical teams and ambulances and uninterrupted essential services.
DC also directed departments to keep their field staff on standby and ensure real-time response to any exigency.
SSP, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary, SDM, Zainapora, Chairman, Auqaf Aasri- sharief Pinjora, Senior officers from the civil administration, police, health, municipal services, power development department, PHE, fire & emergency services, transport and other concerned departments attended the meeting and apprised the chair of the status of preparations.
DC directed officers to submit compliance reports well in time and ensure zero-defect implementation.
