Srinagar, Sep 6 : A minor boy was crushed to death by a train at Wanabal area of Rawalpora in outskirts of Srinagar city on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Khatana (3) son of Abdul Rashid Khatana, a resident of Changas, Rajouri in Jammu division.
The minor belongs to a nomad family and put up make shift shelters near track at Wanbal Srinagar.
The incident occurred when the boy tried to cross the track and was hit by the train, resulting in his on spot death. The mother of the minor also suffered injuries in her arm while she tried to rescue him.
A police officer said that proceedings under section 174 CrPc has been initiated in this regard.
In recent past, two women, two minor boys and a non-local resident from Punjab were hit and killed by the train near the same spot. (GNS)
