Srinagar: Army on Tuesday celebrated with zeal and fervour 71st Independence Day across the Kashmir Valley, a defence spokesman in a statement issued here said.
In a statement issued here, a defence spokesman said army and people shared the spirit of the day with befitting sense of belonging, joy, brotherhood and bonhomie.
The occasion was marked with the National Flag, a symbol of peace, prosperity and sacrifice, being hoisted with pride in various parts of the Valley.
In solemn celebrations all across Kashmir including the remote areas along the line of control as also the hinterland, the Army and people pledged to remain by each other’s side and work together towards early return to normalcy.
On this auspicious occasion, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, the Chinar Corps Commander extended his greetings to the brave and dedicated personnel and families of the Chinar Corps and congratulated the proud gallantry award winners. The General officer also conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Kashmir and reassured them of the Army’s commitment towards their safety, security, and wellbeing.
