Militants Managed to Escape After a brief Encounter in Shopian village.
Clashes With Forces leave Many Injured.

Shopian: Sep 03: A brief gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district early Sunday morning. A police official said militants fired upon army soldiers and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel during a search operation in Laddi Imamsahab village around 6:30 am. The forces retailed the fire, triggering a brief gunfight.

However as soon as the operation was launched, people from nearby villages flooded the area and its adjoining areas took to streets and pelted the forces with stones.
The police and paramilitary CRPF used tear smoke shells and fired pellets to disperse the protesting people.

At least seventeen people have suffered pellet injuries in the protests triggered by a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Laddi village in this south Kashmir district.
Thirteen of the people, who had received pellet injuries in government forces action, were brought to sub-district hospital, Shopian, Three injured were also brought to public health centre (PHC) Zainpora.
Two of the injured with grievous pellet injuries were referred to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for advanced treatment.

Government forces after brief gunfight detained the owners of two houses in Laadi village of Shopian district where a fierce gun battle raged in the morning hours.
The house owners were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Muhammad Yousuf Wani were detained when the forces were withdrawing from the encounter site, their families said.

Mobile internet service was restored in Shopian district of southern Kashmir Sunday afternoon.
The service was snapped after violent protests erupted in the district as government forces engaged a group of militants in a gun-battle.
