Customary India-China border meet not held on Independence Day

New Delhi: These meetings are held at five points — Daulat Beg Oldie in northern Ladakh, Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh, Chushul in Ladakh, Bum-La near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and Nathu-Laa in Sikkim.
Amid the ongoing border row, customary Border Personnel Meetings held between India and China every Independence Day were not held this time.
According to sources, the meetings could not be held as China’s PLA officials did not respond to communications from the Indian Army.
These meetings are held at five points — Daulat Beg Oldie in northern Ladakh, Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh, Chushul in Ladakh, Bum-La near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and Nathu-Laa in Sikkim.
The meetings are held on the national days of both countries.
