Omar, Mehbooba supports demand of opening of Kargil-Skardu road
Kargil, Feb 1: (UNI) Hundreds of people on Friday took out a procession in this border town of Ladakh demanding opening of Kargil-Skardu in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) road.
Meanwhile, former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have supported the demand of people of Kargil.
People took out a procession in the Kargil town today and marched through different streets demanding opening of the Cross-LoC road to help families divided in 1947 due to partition. The processionists expressed hope the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will made the announcement about opening of the road. Mr Modi is visiting Jammu, Kashmir and Ladkh on February 3.
National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah taking to micro blogging site twitter said “ 1000s march in Kargil town in support of the demand to open the Kargil-Skardu road. @JKNC_ supports this genuine demand of the people of the area & hopes that @PMOIndia will announce this important CBM when he next visits J&K”.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba in a tweet said “ PDP envisaged through #SelfRule not only opening of #KargilSkardu , but other routes too , to let people explore & increase contacts across borders . Such initiatives will not only open up jk to the world around us ,but also serve the cause of peace beyond boundaries @jkpdp .
