12th International Day of Yoga Celebrated Across Sub Division Zainapora with Focus on ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’

Zainapora, 21 June 2026: The 12th International Day of Yoga was observed today across Sub Division Zainapora with the central theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’. The main event was held in the lawns of GDC Zainapora, while similar yoga sessions were organised simultaneously at other locations in the sub-division.

The main event saw enthusiastic participation from locals, students and youth who performed asanas and pranayama under expert guidance.

Sh. Bilal Ahmed, SDM Zainapora, attended as Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address centered on the theme. He stressed that _“Yoga is the way to live”_ and called it a timeless, scientific practice for sustainable health.

Speaking on the importance of yoga, he said:

“‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ is not just a theme, it is a need of our times. As we age, our body and mind require care that is preventive, not curative. Yoga offers exactly that – it builds strength, improves flexibility, balances hormones, and keeps the mind calm and focused. Different asanas serve different purposes: some improve joint health, some aid digestion, some reduce stress and anxiety. Every citizen must identify the asanas suited to their age and health and practice them daily.”

He further emphasized that in modern life, where physical activity has reduced and lifestyle diseases are rising, yoga provides a simple, zero-cost solution for healthy ageing. “Daily practice of yoga delays ageing, prevents chronic illness, and adds quality years to life. If we want a healthy, productive society, yoga must become a part of every home, every morning,” he added.

The sessions across Zainapora focused on training participants in age-appropriate asanas, breathing techniques and meditation practices to support healthy ageing. The events concluded with a collective pledge to make yoga a daily habit.

The wide participation across the sub-division reflected strong public commitment to adopting yoga for long-term health and wellness.
